My name is Bonnie Maney. My husband John Maney and I are the Founders of Bud and Bumble, Inc.
Bud and Bumble is a non-profit, family foundation. We deliver free, monthly snack boxes to clients in treatment centers along with encouraging notes.
My Father, Mander McPherson died unexpectedly in January. He was the best example of loving Jesus and wanting to serve God in his daily walk that I have met. He was a faithful man of prayer and an enormous source of comfort when people around him were discouraged or struggling. He often hand wrote notes like “Better days are around a corner, so hang in there.”
I cherish his notes, because those words of hope and love were life giving to me during difficult times. John and I started Bud and Bumble, Inc. in my Dad’s honor and to take on the mantle of encouragement that he faithfully lived.
We are currently working on our fourth month of snack box deliveries to the Minneapolis, Minnesota Teen Challenge Women’s programs. These programs include the short term women’s program, Freedom Manor (the long term women’s program), and Grace Manor (the aftercare women’s program).
By August, we will be adding three local Minnesota Teen Challenge men’s treatment centers for a total of six treatment centers being served. We plan to expand our monthly outreach to more treatment center locations as we are able to do so.
We have received so many responses from the clients expressing their appreciation for the snack boxes and the notes of encouragement. We want to include a handful of handwritten notes in each person’s monthly box, but we need your help to do this.
We are asking local churches and Christian schools to partner with us by making a monthly commitment to have parishioners or students dedicate a moment each month to hand write uplifting notes to these hurting people. We want them to know that despite their struggles and current issues they have reasons to hope and believe they can have an amazing future.
There is life giving strength in having members of our community take the time to hand write notes of cheer and support to each client. It deeply touches them to be remembered individually on a monthly basis. One does not know when a simple note written in a church pew or in a classroom could be just the words that stop someone from giving up and walking away from recovery.
As a private family foundation, we are self-funding this ministry. We are not seeking any kind of financial donations from the churches and schools who partner with us.
We also provide the note paper. We would love to partner with you by having your group dedicate a short time once per month to hand write notes for our Cheer Packs. It is a simple but powerful way to bless the lives of these precious people as they work on major life transitions.
If you are willing to participate in these monthly snack box notes, we would drop off the note paper and then pick up the completed notes when we drop off the next month’s note paper. We hope you’ll consider joining us. Please contact us with any further questions.
